2019 Renault Kwid facelift ready for launch in India, looks good!

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Renault recently launched the all-new Triber compact-MPV which poses more like a compact-SUV in the Indian market. Now, the car which has given a strong foothold to Renault in India is due for a mid-life makeover. New spyshots have emerged online which give us a crystal clear view of what the Kwid facelift would look like, especially in the Climber variant. The Kwid is the brands entry level hatchback in India, and will be launched in this facelift avatar in the weeks to come to cash in on the festive season demand.

The changes that you see on the Kwid facelift are very pleasing, especially since this car is a budget model. At the front, you get a new split headlamp design as per the current trend. We don’t expect any fancy all-LED setup, but LED DRLs are for sure going to be on offer. The front grille is all-new, and so is the front bumper. The housing of the lower headlamp section also looks very stylish. Given that this is the Climber variant caught undisguised, you can notice plenty of contrast orange shades on the rear view mirror, bumpers, roof rails, and front skirts. The new design is more in sync with the K-ZE EV variant based on the Kwid. The rear end sports a new tail lamp design, new bumpers and reflector strips.

The 2019 Renault Kwid is expected to be a little larger in dimensions, but cabin space isn’t expected to be improved by a huge margin. This change will have more to do with the body kit on the outside extending a little more.

Just like the Triber, we expect a full digital touchscreen infotainment on offer along with a new digital LED instrument cluster. Expect features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Reverse Parking Camera, etc. to be on offer. Interiors will also get updated upholstery for a new cabin experience.

Powering the Renault Kwid would be the same 800cc, 54 Hp and 1,000cc 68 Hp petrol engine matched to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. This time around, we expect the facelift version to be launched with BS VI compliant motors, or may be they would be upgraded closer to the deadline which is April 2020.

The Kwid facelift is coming up soon to fend off the new rival Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, which is slated for a launch towards the end of this month.
