Yamaha could launch MT-15 in India, in 2019

Rumours are doing the rounds that Yamaha might be working on yet another performance motorcycle for the 150cc segment. On on hand, you have the likes of the FZ & FZ-S in our market while you can also buy the YZF-R15. But may be, Yamaha could slot a motorcycle to bridge this gap. It is being said that Yamaha is working towards introducing the MT-15 in India in 2019.

The MT-15 is a naked sports motorcycle which is based on the YZF-R15 V3.0.

Powering this bike will be the same motor as the R15, which is a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled block producing 19.3 PS of power and 15 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper assist clutch. It will also benefit from the VVA technology. This would make it the most powerful 150cc class naked street bike, and also, a lot of fun to ride in the city.

The 2019 Yamaha MT-15 was recently showcased in Thailand and it will sport a negative instrument console, LED headlamp and tail lamp, front and rear disc brakes, ABS most likely if it arrives in 2019, but for India we expect a telescopic front fork instead of a USD. The 2019 MT-15 looks futuristic, and will have no similar looking, or similar performing motorcycle to rival. Of course, this will also make it an expensive motorcycle in the segment.
