Triumph recalls Trident 660 & Tiger Sport 660 over fork caps

Triumph Motorcycle in the US have issued a recall on the Triumph Trident 660 and the Tiger Sport 660. The brand is recalling 107 motorcycles manufactured between April 2022 and May 2022. The recall is pertaining a fork cap which may not be fitted as per specification. The fork cap fitting is a machine error reports sources. Triumph Trident units manufactured between 28 April 2022 and 18 May 2022 may have the issue. Furthermore, the Tiger Sport 660 produced between 5 May 2022 and 24 May  2022, may have the faulty fork cap.

Triumph Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 – Recall

The faulty fork cap could have stripped threads during production and may potentially detect from the tube under loads. This could lead to loss of control and an eventual crash. However, it is important to note that no incidents pertaining to this particular recall have been reported. It is also important to note that the recall has been issued in America and China. But Triumph has not issued a recall in the Indian market and the bikes in India are unlikely to have been affected by this recall.

Triumph Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 – Part Sharing

Both the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 share underpinnings which includes the engine, chassis and some parts of the suspension. Powering the Trident and the Tiger Sport 660 is a 660cc in-line three-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a 240-degree firing order. The engine produces 81 PS of power and 64 Nm of torque. The Trident 660 comes with a Showa 41mm upside down separate function forks (SFF). Meanwhile, the Tiger Sport 660 comes with a Showa 41mm upside down separate function cartridge forks with 150mm wheel travel.

Triumph Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 – Other Recalls

In September 2023, Triumph had recalled the Trident 660 and the Tiger Sport 660 in the USA for an issue with its Manifold Air Pressure (MAP) sensor. The brand reported that over 7,500 units produced between 6 January 2021 and 27 July 2023 could have been affected.
