Tata Nexon scores ‘5 Star’ crash safety rating from Global NCAP

Written by Parichay Malvankar

In August 2018, Global NCAP had given the Tata Nexon a 4-star safety rating. Now however, the car has exceeded its own benchmark and has received a 5-star safety rating. This is the only Indian car in this segment to have achieved a full 5-star rating in crash test.

The crashed vehicle was declared as safe with full 5-stars for adult occupant safety. It scored 16.06/17 and also scored a 3-star safety rating for child occupant safety. Nexon becomes the first and only car in India to score such high safety rating. The car was tested for both front and side body impact.

The Tata Nexon comes with an energy absorbing body structure, which you can also term as crumple zones which help in times of a crash reducing the possible risk to occupants. The body deforms in a particular manner ensuring safety. The Nexon sports dual front airbags, seat belts with pre-tensioner, load-limited and crash-locking tongue for the driver side. There are pedal blockers as well to prevent the driver feet from getting injured severely. Other active safety features include ABS, EBD, Stability Control as standard. Child lock, seat belt reminder, ISOFIX and other features also make the Nexon a car rich in safety features.

And all variants of the Tata Nexon get this 5-star adult occupant safety, and 3-star child occupant safety rating.
