Written by Parichay Malvankar

Royal Enfield is still some time away from introducing the 650cc Twins in India. The Interceptor INT 650 & the Continental GT 650 models are expected to be launched sometime post the festive season here in India. However, the technical training for the service team is apparently going on, and leaked service manual gives us an idea of the specs for the models going to be sold in our country.

Powering both the bikes, the Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 will be a 648cc, air-cooled, parallel-twin, 4-stroke motor producing 47 BHP of power @ 7100 RPM and 52 Nm of torque @ 5200 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The gearbox will be coupled with a slipper assist clutch.

Other important specs include 41mm front forks, twin gas charged rear shock absorbers, dual-channel ABS from Bosch, 320mm front disc brake and 250mm rear disc brake. Both the bikes have the same 2122 mm length and wheelbase of 1400 mm. TheInterceptor 650 measures 1165 mm in height and has a width of 744 mm while the Continental GT 650 measures 1024 mm in height with a width of 789 mm.

Both bikes also weigh different with the Interceptor 650 tipping the scale at 202 kg and the Continental GT 650 lighter by a few kilos resulting in 198 kg.

Royal Enfield have already showcased both these models in India at the previous Rider Mania. The brand still though is not ready to introduce these bikes in our country for reasons unknown. Meanwhile, their Classic 350 is still churning out fantastic sales numbers giving Royal Enfield no reason to worry.
