Recently spotted on the streets in India, Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the next-generation Swift in India. Also, the production of the old Swift has been stopped, and those who have booked a Swift recently will get deliveries with the new version once the car is launched in February 2018.
The Swift nameplate brought Maruti Suzuki up in contention in the premium hatchback segment. The brand introduced fun, yet affordable motoring to the Indian audience within a budget, and also, with looks which still look good.
The new Swift although evolutionary in overall design, is a completely new product. For instance, the front is familiar to the Dzire, becauze obviously, it shares almost the entire parts bin save for the rear profile. Compared to the current Swift, the new Swift will come with a lighter yet stronger build, new chassis shared with the Baleno, new headlamps with LED DRLs, new LED tail lamps, new diamond cut alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, C-pillar mounted door handle, and all the latest gadgetry by segment standards.
Engines will be the familiar 1.2L petrol & 1.3L diesel units, but in different states of tune. And also, mileage numbers are expected to improve.
The new Swift is although lighter is going to be safer than the current model being able to meet the strict crash test norms.
Pricing? Expect a similar price tag, because no matter what, the new Swift has to undercut the pricing of the Baleno which is placed in the premium Nexa outlets.
So, are you ready for the new Swift?
