New Hyundai Grand i10 getting ready for debut, interiors spied

Written by Nizam Shaikh

A new generation Hyundai Grand i10 has recently been spotted testing in a camouflaged suit. The exterior was well hidden, because of the camouflaged skin and did not reveal much detail but few evolutionary changes in the headlight and taillight design may be in order. More interestingly we could see a little bit of the interiors which appeared to be well hidden beneath the camouflaged skin as well.

The dashboard looked simple and Hyundai seems to have obtained some usable space by redesigning the dashboard. The seats are slimmer making the car more space efficient and it already feels roomier, the seats now also get adjustable headrests on the new Hyundai Grand i10. The power window buttons are placed near the centre console, where a centre armrest with cubby holes for mobile phones is seen and a gear lever from the Hyundai Santro is also seen. The instrument panel has twin dials,, one for the tachometer and another for the speedometer, and a LCD multi-information display. The doors appear to have a large bottle holders cum magazine racks and there are various cubby holes, like the one located in front of the passenger on the dashboard is always a good idea. Top-spec variants are expected to have a large touchscreen infotainment system, key-less entry and go, a different instrument cluster and climate control system as well.

The Hyundai Grand i10 is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, 12-valve, DOHC common rail diesel motor coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol motor is a 1.2L, 4-cylinder block. While the petrol engine produces 83 PS of power, the diesel engine produces 75 PS of power. The brakes are hydraulic disc on the front and drum brakes on the rear wheel. The suspension on the Grand i10 is a McPherson strut on the front and coupled torsion beam axle on the rear. The suspension shock-absorber is gas type.

The all-new Hyundai Grand i10 is expected to launch this year during the festive season. It will be priced somewhere ranging between INR 5 lakh to INR 9 lakh ex,showroom.

The Hyundai Grand i10 will compete with the like of Ford Figo and Maruti Suzuki Swift.
