Mercedes-Benz, India’s leading luxury car brand today launched the refreshed / facelift variant of their flagship saloon, the S-Class. The new 2018 S-Class arrives in 2 options, the S 350 d diesel and S 450 petrol. The S 350 d is the first car in India to come with a BSVI compliant engine 2 years ahead of the regulation and currently can also run on the BSIV fuel. The S 350 d also becomes the most powerful diesel engine to be offered here in India.
Mercedes-Benz has priced the S 350 d at INR 1.33 crore & S 450 at INR 1.37 crore.
The latest car comes with radar-based driving aids, enhanced protection for occupants & others on the street, rear seat comfort & luxury package, tech & entertainment package, etc.
The S-Class S 350 d uses a OM 656 engine which produces 286 HP of power which also complies with future emissions (RDE – Real Driving Emissions). The new model is also 6% more fuel efficient and also features a stepped-bowl combustion chamber design, 2-stage turbocharger & CAMTRONIC variable valve lift control.
Adblue, also known as DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid)which is a mix of 32% urea with deionized water is injected in the SCR (Selective CatalyticReduction) for processing the emissions. The Adblue has a 25L capacity and needs to be replaced every service interval. It is also indicated in the speedo console.
Thanks to the BSVI compliance, the new S-Class reduces emission by up to 68% and PM limit is reduced by 82%.
The S 450 sports a V6 petrol motor producing 367 BHP of power and has 2-stage turbocharging and intercooling.
Other features on the new S-Class include Panoramic sliding sunroof with obstruction sensor, two electric roller sunblind, new steering wheel with ergonomic touch control buttons, integrated cruise control in the left-hand grip area, Air Balance fragrance package, Thermotronic climate control at the back, 64 colour ambient light package, HD resolution instrument console screens, wireless charging for mobiles, Burmester sound system with 13 speakers & 9 channel DSP Amplifier, new car key, new radiator grille, new multibeam LED headlamps, new LED tail lamps, 18″ alloy wheels, Active Distance Assist, Active Steering Assist, Active Braking Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and all other state of the art creature & safety functions.
