Maruti Suzuki has produced the 20 millionth car in India

Suzuki Motor Corporation has achieved yet another milestone. The brand has revealed that they have produced a total of 20 million cars in India so far. After Japan, it is India which has managed to cross this figure for the brand. It has taken 34 years and 5 months since the production began in December 1983. Japan on the other hand took 45 years and 9 months to achieve this number.

3.17 million units of this chunk has been contributed by the Alto while the 20 millionth car which rolled out was the new Maruti Suzuki Swift.

Back in 1983, Maruti Suzuki started production in India with the Maruti 800. Today Maruti Suzuki has plants at Gurgaon, Manesar, Gujarat. Maruti Suzuki manufactures a total of 16 car models now in India, all of which are quite popular in the masses. Maruti Suzuki also has over 50% market share in the Indian automotive industry.

Maruti Suzuki also uses India as a hub for exports. It ships cars to countries and regions such as Europe, Japan, Asia, Africa & Latin America.
