Written by Parichay Malvankar

The Mahindra Bolero has been an iconic car in the Indian market. Being on sale for years, with minimum changes, it still continues to be a favourite utility vehicle for the masses. Today, Mahindra announced that they have sold over 10 lakh units of the Bolero since inception. The Bolero has been one of the top 10 utility vehicles in the country for several years, and this year, it recorded a Y-o-Y growth of 23%, unlike segment standards which witnessed 17% growth.

The Bolero is the 3rd highest selling SUV in the country.

The latest refresh to the Bolero came in 2016, under the name of Bolero Power+. It offered more mileage, more power & a reliable package overall.

The Mahindra Bolero was first launched in August 2000. The 10 lakh sales figures are marked since 2005-06, so there could be more on the roads as sales began from the 2000s. The social media accounts for the Bolero have a million+ followers as well, hinting that even in today’s digital world, the utilitarian Bolero is not left behind.

The Bolero Power+ is powered by a mHawk D70 diesel engine which is a 1,493cc block producing 70 BHP of power and 195 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Bolero doesn’t come with 4×4 anymore. This SUV is available in SLE, SLX & ZLX variants.
