Finally, India gets a fully faired entry level sportsbike which is relatively easy on the pocket
The RC390 has sharp styling cues and is built for the track
Even from the back, the supersport-like high tail looks brilliant
And it gets a lot of equipment, most importantly, ABS. Check out the bike rolling on a dusty patch without leaving the rider nervous.
You will see a lot of these in your rear view mirrors soon
Head on, the design is different from the typical big headlamp lens setup of it’s competitors
The RC390 will be available in only one paint scheme. A dual tone, white and black version. The RC200 gets all black panels.
The RC390 does not look bulky from any angle. KTM have tried their best to reduce excess panel work to keep the bike light-weight.
RC stands for ‘Race Competition”
The design is fresh, although, it won’t please all. It might come out as too sharp for some, while others might simply love it at first sight.
Overall stance of the bike is front biased, the rider has to lean a significant amount and the riding position is committed
Another look at the sharp front end
Rear end looks proportionate, only the tyre hugger spoils the party here
Apart from cosmetic changes, KTM has also revised the trellis frame and claim that it is stiffer on the RC
Front fairing is something different than what we’ve been seeing. It has a grey plastic body work inside, and a transparent plastic fairing on top.
Dual projector headlamps and LED DRLs are a segment first
Closer look at the LED DRL design
Turn indicators are mounted on the rear view mirror. Funky!
The rear view mirror case has a sharp design as well, for better aerodynamics
Rear view mirrors are wide, but their position is a bit too low and they taper off towards the end
Chunky stalk for the rear view mirror, flat design for better aerodynamics
Clip-on handlebars look substantial. The RC390 gets bar end weights, while the RC200 doesn’t.
LHS switch gear
RHS switch gear
Sticker on the matte-black, fibre tank with 10l fuel carrying capacity
300mm front disc brake provides ample stopping power, not to forget the ABS
Front mudguard looks a little quirky
Look at all the aero-fins, all to direct wind on the engine and keep it cool
Case over the radiator also works to direct air efficienctly
Close look at the fairing plastic
Notice the gap between the panels
Fairing + clear plastic combo shows off the road from the side
What the RC390 is all about, the fairing
Decal work looks good, although we would have loved more body colours. KTM will offer a decal kit for the RC series soon, which would cost around Rs. 15,000.
Riders view of the fairing
This plastic cap ahead of the tank pops-out to reveal the battery
Underbelly exhaust is neatly enveloped by the fairing.
Rear set rider foot pegs and the brake pedal
Side stand is quite upright, also seen is the toe gear-shifter
Power coated rear swingarm and half chain cover
230mm rear disc brakes and the useful but ugly tyre hugger
Tyre gets a saree guard on the LHS
Rider seat is small, heavy riders will find it a little uncomfortable
The best looking pillion seat on a supersport bike. Although it looks like a cowl, it is a decent soft unit.
Grab spot for the pillion
LED tail lamp, when the brake is pressed
Single LED beam when the tail lamps are on
Thin turn indicators and the number plate cowl
Rear disc brake oil reservoir
Small tyre hugger at to prevent dust / mud being thrown on the monoshock
Number plate cowl is easy to take off, just in case you like tail-tidy
Coolant filler tube under the handlebar
Horn below the tank, LHS
Number plate and rear view mirrors are mounted together
Orange coloured tie-clip is brilliant attention to detail
Single-cylinder, 4-stroke, water-cooled, 373.2cc, petrol engine producing 43 BHP of power
