Kawasaki discontinues Versys 1000 in India

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Kawasaki has discontinued the Versys 1000 adventure tourer motorcycle in India sighting very poor demand. Even with massive discounts in the recent months, the Versys 1000 failed to attract new buyers, and Kawasaki although very aggressive in their strategy, have axed this top of the line Versys model for India.

Kawasaki’s Indian website has been updated, and the Versys 1000 is not to be seen anymore.

Powering the Versys 1000 is a 1043cc, in-line, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor producing 120 PS of power and 102 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. With typical adventure tourer styling, the Versys 1000 was built for long distance riding and was offered with plenty of electronic riding aids.

On the other hand, the likes of Ducati Multistrada 1200, Triumph Tiger, Honda Africa Twin are doing decent, and are still on sale. We wonder if Kawasaki is planning to relaunch the Versys 1000 with some localisation and a lower price tag, which would turn the tables completely.

For now, if you want the Kawasaki Versys, you only have two options – the Versys 650 or the Versys-x 300.
