India Premiere of e-SURVIVOR Concept from Maruti Suzuki at Auto Expo 2018

Written by Parichay Malvankar

At the Auto Expo 2018 in India, Maruti Suzuki debuted the e-Survivor concept. This EV design concept along with the next generation Hybrid System (HEV) were kept on display. While Maruti Suzuki will introduce an EV in India not before 2020, this is giving us a hint at the design theme to be followed.

The e-Survivor concept is paying tribute to Suzuki’s 4WD heritage. This concept showcased how an 4×4 electric EV would look like. This also showcases Suzuki’s intent of mobility in the future with the possibility of 4WD, autonomous driving, connected cars & EVs.

The e-Survivor sports a ladder frame platform with a lightweight compact body which will offer durability on broken roads and better driveability. With an electric 4WD, the e-Survivor comes with 4 in-wheel electric motors controlling each wheel independently. This will allow for on-the-spot turning for better mobility while off-roading. One can also switch to manual mode for off-roading by turning off the autonomous driving.

The spherical monitor for infotainment in the centre will share not only the cars status, but even road conditions, entertainment functionality and other important data such as images from vehicle cameras, smartphone integration, topography info, etc.

The e-Survivor concept measures 3,460mm in length, 1,645mm in width & 1,655mm in height.
