Hyundai has today officially taken the wraps off the next generation Verna for the Indian market. This 5th gen model of the Verna has seen over 1,000 crore of investment in its development phase. The Hyundai Verna has been a popular product in the Indian market and has seen over 3.18 unit sales till now. Worldwide, the brand has sold over 8.8 million units of the Verna in around 66 countries.
The new Verna will be launched in India on August 22, 2017.

The new model comes with a 3 year / unlimited km warranty.
The new Verna is built around a all-new K2 Super Body Structure chassis. This new architecture makes use of over 50% Advanced High Strength Steel. This will help in the rigidity and responsiveness of the vehicle. The new car also claims to have improved massively on the already good NVH levels compared to rivals (Read Honda City).
Hyundai has reworked the entire suspension setup for better cornering and high speed stability. The new sedan also has better lateral stiffness in the suspension to reduce body roll. Also, it gets a motor-driven power steering system which will work in more responsive fashion than before.
Feature list includes a highlight – ventilated seats and then the likes of sunroof, leather upholstery, touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, button start, 16″ alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, projector fog lamps, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, etc.
Powering the new Hyundai Verna will be:
- 1.6L Dual VTVT petrol producing 123 PS of power
- 1.6L U2 CRDi VGT diesel producing 128 PS of power
- Both engines matched to a 6-speed manual / 6-speed automatic gearbox
