Hyundai launches Elite i20 facelift for INR 5.35 lakh at Auto Expo 2018

Hyundai has today officially launched the 2018 Elite i20 facelift for the premium hatchback segment. While multiple spyshots emerged recently since the car reached dealerships, the South Korean brand has now announced that bookings are now open for the new Elite i20 facelift. Prices for the 2017 i20 begin from INR 5.35 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Elite i20 has been facing the heat from rivals Maruti Suzuki Baleno & Honda Jazz in the recent times. Also, with competition evolving with time, the new i20 with subtle changes wants to stay on top of the premium hatchback segment. Evolutionary in design, the 2018 Elite i20 maintains the same body profile, yet with distinct highlights.

Changes to the new Elite i20 include cascade front grille, new projector headlamp with LED DRL, new fog lamp, new fog lamp enclosures, new front & rear bumpers, new tail lamps, R16 alloy wheels & new dual tone paint combinations. On the inside, you now get dual tone red & orange interior colour packs.

Other new features include the new C-pillar & tail gate design, 17.77 touchscreen infotainment system & Arkamys audio system. You also have a rear arm rest with cup holders, sliding front armrest, rear AC vents and for safety, 6-airbags with curtain airbag, ABS & Dual airbags standard, speed sensing door lock, parking camera with dynamic guidelines.

Powering the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 is the same 1.4L, U2 CRDi diesel engine producing 90 PS of power and 22.4 KGM of torque while the petrol motor is a 1.2L, Kappa, Dual VTVT block producing 83 PS of power & 11.7 KGM of torque. While the diesel gets a 6-speed manual, the petrol comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Hyundai claims that the mileage has increased by up to 9%.
