Honda launches Activa 5G in India for INR 52,460

Honda showcased the refreshed Activa version dubbed as the Activa 5G at the Auto Expo last month. Now, the Japanese manufacturer has announced the launch of this new model, and the Activa 5G has been priced at INR 52,460 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Activa 5G is available in 2 variants, the standard variant for which the price is mentioned above, and a Activa 5G DLX variant priced at INR 54,325. The new Activa 5G is just a 1,000 bucks more expensive than the Activa 4G.

Basically pitched as the 5th generation of the Honda Activa, this product doesn’t really bring something revolutionary. It is just a refreshed version of the Activa and comes with a few new features such as LED headlamps, 2 new body colours and minor tweaks.

Powering the Activa 5G is the same 109cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke motor producing 8 HP of power @ 7500 RPM and 9 Nm of torque @ 5500 RPM matched to a conventional CVT gearbox. The scooter now has a BSIV compliant motor and fuel efficiency can be in the range of 45-50 kmpl in real world situations.

The new Activa 5G also gets a digital + analogue speedo console with ECO indicator, service reminder and additional info displayed to the rider. The body work has been mildly reworked to help differentiate that this is the latest 5G. The 2 new colours are Dazzle Yellow Metallic & Pearl Spartan Red.

Honda has been churning out massive sales numbers backed primarily by the Activa scooter. No other product from the Japanese brand is working as good as the Activa is. Due to this, the brands focus has primarily been on the scooter segment, and there is nothing exciting from Honda coming up in the performance segment in the near future. For example, while the world has moved on to the CBR250RR, we will get the old wine, the CBR250R in new colours with a BSIV engine and just a new LED headlamp.
