Citroën brand to launch in India by 2021

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Citroen is officially the car brand which will enter the Indian market by or before 2021. Having sold more than 1.05 million cars in over 90 markets, the Citroen brand is very well known globally, and it will be the first time these cars will hit the Indian soil. Citroen is a car brand which started operations since 1919.

Citroen from the PSA Group along with a JV partner CK Birla Group will manufacture cars and engines in Tamil Nadu in an all-new plant which will be set up. Details on the plant and the production capacity is currently unknown.

India is one of the fastest growing car markets, and Citroen wants to get a piece of this pie. Citroen claims that they will introduce uniquely styled, eco-friendly and comfortable cars for India.

Very recently, the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV was spotted testing in India. While it is unclear if this will be their first product for the mass market, it gives us a fair idea of what to expect. SUVs have been showing an upward trend in the sales department for years, and Citroen could very well consider the premium end of the market to first enter the market.
