2nd Generation Honda Amaze compact-sedan revealed at Auto Expo 2018

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), at the ongoing Indian Auto Expo 2018 showcased the 2nd generation Amaze compact-sedan. While the outgoing model wasn’t really spoken well about thanks to its design, the new Amaze looks great in comparison, and ready to rival the all-new Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The 2nd generation Amaze is expected to launch before the festive season of 2018, and prices are expected to be more or less the same.

The Amaze compact-sedan was first launched in 2013, and ever since, received multiple updates inside & outside to keep the sales numbers running. This was the world debut of the 2nd generation Honda Amaze and this sub-4 metre product looks more like a scaled down Honda City now.

The all-new Amaze has been designed & developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co. Ltd. in Thailand with specific inputs from the Indian market.

While the old version based on the Brio was very curvaceous in its profile, the new Amaze has bold & sharp crease lines and looks far more contemporary. At the back, the boxy slashed boot looks similar to the likes of a Volkswagen Ameo. While fit & finish on this product looked pretty average, this could be a pre-production prototype so we won’t dwell on that much.

The new Amaze showcased a big chrome front grille, silver alloy wheels, turn indicators on ORVMs, beige interiors, twin-pot instrument console, touchscreen infotainment and almost everything as per segment standard. The new Amaze is expected to carry forward the same 1.2L i-VTEC petrol and 1.5L i-DTEC diesel motor. However, we expect power & torque figures to be different for optimum efficiency.

Do you like the Honda Amaze in its new Avatar? What would your guess be on its pricing?
