After having made a successful launch of the Tiago, Hexa & Tigor; Tata Motors is now gearing up to introduce the Nexon Compact-SUV. Once launched, the Nexon will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra Nuvosport, etc.
The Nexon has continued to remain on a long term testing & evaluation phase ironing out any niggles, if any. The compact-SUV is now inching closer to a launch, which could be around the festive season of 2017. The Nexon, just like the Tiago & Tigor will have a very competitive price tag by segment standards.
Seen in nearly production ready avatar here, the Nexon reveals its interior design; and it looks very good. Dual-tone black & grey dashboard, standalone screen on the dashboard for the infotainment, push button start, automatic climate control, black fabric seats, steering wheel with audio controls and a short gear stalk can be seen. What is not up to our taste is the silver shade seen on the gear knob and on the instrument cluster. Also, there is a rotary selector knob next to the handbrake. Now, this being a compact-SUV, we don’t expect 4×4 here. So it’s a mystery what this knob would be for.
The Nexon is expected to be powered by a 1.2L Revotron petrol motor and a all-new 1.5L diesel motor which will make a debut with this compact-SUV. Manual & AMT gearboxes will be on offer.
More details will keep leaking with the launch date inching closer.
