Renault will launch the XBA hatchback by the end of 2015. Now, reports on the internet suggest that this budget hatchback from the French manufacturer could be called as the Kayou.
Also, pricing for the base model is expected to be in the range of Rs. 2.5 lakh, which will fight the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon, etc.
The XBA will be the cheapest Renault car in the world.
Based on the CMF-A platform, the XBA will be powered by a 3-cylinder, 800cc, petrol motor jointly developed by Renault & Nissan. The car will be manufactured at the Chennai facility and will be heavily localised to achieve cost benefits. Reports also suggest that apart from a 5-speed manual, Renault could also offer an AMT in the Indian market.
Sharing the platform with Datsun Redi-Go, the XBA will be exported globally from India.
